Bishop Henderson Church of England Primary School and Nursery

An Introduction from Mr Lane - Headteacher

Welcome to Bishop Henderson Primary School and Nursery. We are very proud of all our children, staff and the wonderful community that we represent and are excited that you are showing an interest in finding out more about us.

Bishop Henderson Primary School  currently welcomes children from 3 to 11 years old. Our unique school sits on top of the Mendip Hills in the village of Coleford. We currently have four classes and one nursery and are well catered for with extensive and varied outside areas.

At Bishop Henderson Primary School and Nursery we value each child and celebrate their individuality. We encourage a love of learning through our enquiry-based curriculum and extracurricular opportunities. As active learners, they reach their full potential and achieve success in both academic development and emotional intelligence.

We also aim to develop independence in our children to allow them to become free thinkers and question the world around them. The school is fortunate to benefit from being positioned in some of the most beautiful grounds which lend themselves to outdoor play and learning.

We are incredibly proud of our children, staff and school and would love to share them with you. So why not book a face-to-face tour by phoning our school office or watching our virtual tour on our website. We know once you visit, you too will fall in love with what we have to offer your child. If you have any further questions, I would be delighted to answer them for you at your earliest convenience.

As a fully inclusive school, if your child has a Special Educational Need or Disability and you wish to discuss any aspect of how we can support their needs, please make an appointment to see the SENDCo, via the school office.

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

It is proposed to create an on site Special Educational Needs (SEN) Unit for 16 to 18 local children that have an Education, Health and Care Plan, and whose learning needs cannot be met within a mainstream classroom. Somerset Council and the governors of Bishop Henderson Church of England Primary School believe that the proposed change will better respond to the needs of children and young people who live in the school’s locality. The consultation paper is designed to set out the proposal in full, and explain how people can provide their feedback, and how and when decisions will be made.
