Homework
Learning at home is a vital part of a child’s education. We ask that parents/carers focus on two key aspects of learning, basic skills and supporting their child’s interests and creativity.
It is not our intention to overburden parents/carers and place an unreasonable expectation on time outside the school day. Homework should not always take the form of written work but should also allow children to be creative, play-based or investigative.
Homework will be relevant to each child’s ability and will support a child’s learning, whatever their educational need.
As a result, this year’s homework will look slightly different.

Projects
In addition to the normal Reading, Timetables and Spellings the school feels it important that children engage with their half termly enquiry via a project at home. We are fully aware that time is precious, parents lead busy working lives and that children will need some rest time so the range of activities that the children can undertake will be broad and varied allowing for as much independence and interest as possible. The children will only need to complete one aspect of their project though additional learning is welcome. Children will be awarded house points for all projects that are completed.
Below is an example of a year 5/6 project homework from another school.

Free writing Use the image on the back of the page to inspire a piece of creative writing. You choose what it will be – a story, a poem, non-fiction– be creative! (Not include in this example) |
Research Find out what you can about the Battle of Britain. Focus on a specific area or general idea. |

Artwork Create a piece of artwork that is inspired by the Barbara Hepworth. |
Maths Try and solve one of the challenges on the back of this page. Ask your teacher if you need some squared paper. |

Something else! Come up with your own brilliant idea based on the Battle of Britain. Be as creative and imaginative as you can.
