School Closure -Severe Weather
School Closure due to weather conditions
At various times of year, there is always the potential for the school to be closed, due to poor weather. We felt it would be useful to inform you of the updated school procedures for closing, should it be necessary. We always aim to keep the school open, however please note that, even though many children could walk to school, many of the of the staff live outside the immediate area and it is very important that they can travel safely to and from school. We cannot open the school without sufficient staff, particularly teachers and designated safeguarding leads (or Deputly DSLs) to supervise the children.
School Closure before 8.30am
A decision to close will be made by 7.00am at the very latest. Information about this decision will be available to parents in the following different ways: a clear closure message will be placed on the front page of the school website https://stoberrypark-school.secure-primarysite.net/ ; a parentmail email message will be sent out to all families; a an anouncment will be made to parents via Facebook. Please do not drop any children off at the school without knowing the situation.
Closure during the school day
Should the school have to close during the school day due to the weather deteriorating, once again information will be put on the website and we would contact as many parents as possible via parentmail, asking them to collect their children. If staff do have to leave early, at least three members of staff will remain on site until all children had been collected from the premises. This information will also be placed on the school website under Key Information - School Closure https://www.bishophenderson.co.uk/page/?title=School+Closure+%2DSevere+Weather&pid=62
Off site learning
In most occasions, the school will only be closed for a short period of time, usually a day. However, in the unlikely event that the school may be closed for longer periods of time, due to severe weather, the school will email activity sheets for the children to complete alongside their homework. Whilst the school will always encourage and welcome any learning the children complete at home, it is at the parent/carers' discretion.
